276 Vulnerable Girls Replicate Sawa World Solutions
Sawa World’s unique approch to poverty reduction is being noticed! This past April, Sawa World was invited by Stromme Foundation, a Norwegian NGO dedicated to improving the lives of impoverished people, to teach Solutions to 276 girls in northern Uganda.
The lessons were a huge success, and resulted in high rates of replication amongst the particpants. Replicated Solutions included wallets, feminine pads, eco-stoves, and liquid soap. The girls were keen to use replicated Solutions for their own personal use, as well as to sell as a means of earning an income.
Acen Immaculate, a single mother, was able to use the income from sales of replicated Solutions to help support herself and her young child. Another woman, Biraga Faith, plans to use the income from the sale of Solutions to cover her living expenses and fund her education.
The experiences of Acen and Biraga are just two of many success stories to come out of the event. We are inspired and encouraged by the success of the training and overjoyed to see the hope that Sawa World and local Solutions have given to these vulnerable girls!
