Sawa Solution: Making Reusable Sanitary Pads
In the slums of Kampala 80% of young girls do not have access to sanitary pads and as a result many of them are forced to drop out of school. After witnessing this unsettling trend, Sawa World Spark Florence developed a creative solution to this issue by training some of the most vulnerable women and girls in her community of Bwaise to sew reusable sanitary pads to sell to other girls. Florence has trained over eighty girls so far, giving them valuable skills and a new way to earn a living while promoting health and hygiene in their community.
