Sawa World 2016 New Year’s Message

Sawa World 2016 New Year’s Message

Hello 2016!

A very warm welcome to 2016 from all of us at Sawa World.

2015 was an incredible year for us; it was an important “tipping” point in all aspects.

Between 2012 to the end of 2015, we reached close to 35,000 vulnerable Ugandan youth with training in local solutions that gave them the skills to instantly transform their livelihoods. We also hosted close to 5,000 youth at the 2nd Sawa World Day at the Sheraton Kampala Gardens in April. The event encouraged 1,064 youth living in extreme poverty to start and run their own small enterprises.

Sawa World’s incredible 2015 did not stop there, we were greatly honored as a nominee for the prestigious Waislitz Global Citizen Award in New York, and we received the Pan African Award for Innovation in Education at a ceremony in New Delhi, India.

The year ended with more exciting news, we secured half an acre of land in the heart of Kampala. The Sawa World Solution Centre will be established on this new site and will officially open on March 1, 2016. The Centre aims to transform the lives of 50,000 youth in 2016 and 1 billion youth in 42 countries by 2030! Cheers to that!

Once more, a very Happy New Year to all our Sawa World Friends! We can’t wait to share our updates with you during the next 12 months, look out for more big news in the coming weeks!
