Charles' efforts involve supporting orphans by relying on the strength and capacity of community members themselves. His cow-milk project provides families willing to house an orphan with a cow and the training to care for it. The cow offers the families sustainable income from the surplus milk, manure for their crops, an nutrition. The families are then required to donate their cow’s calves to other families who volunteer to take in an orphan. These families can also participate in a micro-finance project that Charles established through his profits from building a yoghurt factory. Charles has assisted 16 families with this project and is now working on building three health care centres in rural Uganda.
