Infectious energy, laughter, and broad smiles spread good cheer at Sawa World’s sneak peak open house for members of Kampala’s Makerere Kikoni community on June 1st.  Over 50 visitors were welcomed to the cool and inviting centre awash in rich green, cheery red, soft orange and cream hues.

Guests tried their hand at earring making, crafting paper bags and eco-briquettes, and twisting multicolour strands into stylish wallets. Urban farming impressed visitors viewing hand-made clay pots and planters growing lush, edible greens. Nearly half of the attendees celebrating the opening signed up for future workshops at the bright and airy half-acre centre. The 10-room Solution Centre promises to be a one-stop space offering practical skills training and hands-on tools for self-employment. Over 40 local solutions and educational activities are offered in addition to organic crop and animal farming.

Warm and welcoming, the newly renovated centre hopes to transform the lives of over 50,000 youth in 2016. The dreams have just begun!
